Cat has deep ticks near butt. Should I wait for Bravecto or go to vet?

The ticks might still be attached but should be dead and very easy to remove. If it was an oral Bravecto it is fine for her to get a bath and I would think that regular shampoo should be fine. If it was a topical dose you need to wait 3 days after application to give a bath. You could manually remove the ticks or try using a flea comb.

Put the tick in an airtight container to take to your vet so they can identify it and see if it is one of the kinds that can carry Lyme disease or other diseases.

There is no reason to see a vet at the moment, usually the tick bite itself is not an issue, it's the disease that they can potentially transmit to the dog (tick fever, lyme). These diseases usually do not show up right away, it usually takes several weeks, sometimes more. You might want to add a seresto collar on top of the Bravecto in case you see any ticks on him again.

No you should not be worried, in order for Bravecto to kill ticks, the ticks have to attach and feed on the dog. After giving Bravecto, it distributes to the tissue fluids just under the skin. When fleas and ticks feed, they ingest Bravecto and die. Bravecto kills 100% of ticks on dogs within 12 hours so it would not be unusual to see some live ticks during the first 12 hours that they attach. Remember to give the medication every 12 weeks.

You may wish to consider a product like Capstar or even a topical flea medication in addition to the Bravecto. Products like Frontline Gold, Vectra and Advantix tend to work well. The flea life cycle sometimes necessitates that you also treat your household and even your yard to fully eradicate the infestation. Regular laundering of pet bedding can help but you may still end up needing to have an exterminators help. Finally, make sure all pets in the household are treated with a safe, quality flea preventative as often house cats that have not been treated can harbor fleas. Good luck!

Ticks can be prevented with only 1 preventative that I am aware of on he market right now, and hat product is called Bravecto for cats. Here is a website link with more information. https://us.bravecto.com/for-cats.aspx But to rid the ticks that are on him currently, and also to treat for his other conditions (likely an upper respiratory infection and possible tick borne disease) I highly recommend taking him in to your vet for a proper exam and possible tests to make sure he didn’t get some infection from the ticks.
