My dog has a tick in his ear after Bravecto. Is it possible?

No you should not be worried, in order for Bravecto to kill ticks, the ticks have to attach and feed on the dog. After giving Bravecto, it distributes to the tissue fluids just under the skin. When fleas and ticks feed, they ingest Bravecto and die. Bravecto kills 100% of ticks on dogs within 12 hours so it would not be unusual to see some live ticks during the first 12 hours that they attach. Remember to give the medication every 12 weeks.

There is no reason to see a vet at the moment, usually the tick bite itself is not an issue, it's the disease that they can potentially transmit to the dog (tick fever, lyme). These diseases usually do not show up right away, it usually takes several weeks, sometimes more. You might want to add a seresto collar on top of the Bravecto in case you see any ticks on him again.

If you just gave the Bravecto, give it some time to work - it can take 12 hours to kill ticks that have latched on. If they aren't gone by tomorrow morning, let the vet take a look. Take tweezers, put then on the tick as close to the skin as possible and pull straight up. Do not worry if the head breaks off and stays in the skin. The body will get rid of it within a few weeks. Best prevention for ticks is either a spot on that prevents ticks or fleas or a preventive chew such as Bravecto or Nexgard.

Keep an eye on it, gently clean/scrub it with mild soap and water (Dawn dish soap can work well), and monitor for swelling or discharge that could signal an infection. Talk to your vet about the tick bite and how Willow is doing; your vet can help you decide if you should test Willow for exposure to tickborne disease.
