My dog's back leg shakes when standing, no pain. What's the cause?

Although the leg doesn't seem painful by far the most common cause of the shaking you're describing would be a leg injury or arthritis. I would recommend having your vet examine Rook's leg. They might recommend taking an x-ray, especially if Rook is stoic during the exam as well.

So your dog has arthritis in the right hip and a subluxation in the left hip. He may be shaking due to pain from these problems, and he may need pain medications. Do NOT give him any human pain medications. Many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. Take him into the vet to get pain medications. Best of luck.

Hi! Thanks for entrusting us with Bentley's care today! Lameness and/or possible leg pain and shaking can be a sign of a few things that range from a muscle sprain to even a fracture. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian so that this can be further assessed which will likely include radiographs. Shaking or muscle tremors, difficulty walking and seizures can be a sign of neurologic disease in the brain. There are many infectious and inflammatory diseases that can cause signs like these. Severe liver disease or low blood sugar could also cause neurologic signs. I would recommend seeing your veterinarian if you have not already had Bobby examined. They can check blood work and may recommend testing for some infectious diseases. Often referral to a neurologist for an MRI and sampling spinal fluid is necessary to get a diagnosis, but there may be some treatments your veterinarian could recommend before more testing.

Shaking is usually a sign of pain, according to the symptoms I can't be sure where the pain is coming from, possibly from his hips but it could be from somewhere else. I strongly recommend that you take him to the vet ASAP in order to get it checked and treated.

I am sorry to hear about Lexi. Trembling in the legs can be a sign of pain or discomfort. I would recommend that Lexi see her vet for an examination. They can check her for things like arthritis or spinal pain. Spinal cord compression can also cause weakness/wobbliness/trembling while standing. They may recommend bloodwork to screen for things like hypothyroidism which can also manifest with neurological signs like tremors. There may be medication that can help Lexi dependingon the underlying cause of her trembling.

Most likely it is not related to anything and is only incidental. However, this can only be confirmed after a physical exam by your veterinarian.
