Hello. I would be a little concerned as to why a puppy this young could come down with a cold. The immunity a puppy gets from its mother usually remains very high until it begins to wane around 8 weeks of age. That is why we start puppy vaccinations at this time. My best advice is to have the puppy examined within a day or so of you obtaining possession. I am not concerned about the Zithromax as this is usually well tolerated, but I would like you to make sure the puppy's heart & lungs sound normal. NO! Do not give any Azithromycin. That will not help this problem. The only thing that helps a hoarse voice to rest it so if you can, try to keep him from barking. It is not life threatening. My guess is that he may have a touch of kennel cough and it will usually resolves within 10-14 days. If it does not, or if he starts showing other symptoms (vomiting, not eating, lethargy, nasal discharge) then I would get him to a vet for an exam. I hope this helps! Best wishes!
