My dog ate wood, now he's peeing inside. Could these issues be linked?

Hi there! It sounds like little Woody needs to visit the vet. Frequent urination can indicate a urinary tract infection (UTI). When bacteria develop in the bladder, it inflames the urethra (the tube out which a male dog urinates), and causes a dog to feel like he has to pee all the time. I would be even more suspicious of this if he has little urine coming out when he's trying to urinate. A UTI is probably not an emergency at this point, but it is likely to be very uncomfortable if this is the case. While very unlikely at this age, it is possible for the urethra to swell so much that it blocks the passage of urine, which quickly becomes a life-threatening situation. I strongly suggest bringing Woody to the vet ASAP if the frequent urination continues. In the meantime, make sure he has access to plenty of water to keep the bladder and kidneys flushed out. There isn't much that you can do for him at home safely aside from this. Do be on the lookout for blood in the urine, as this is another indicator of a UTI. No, that should be completely unrelated. Eating glass can cause gastrointestinal bleeding, dark feces, diarrhoea/vomiting and potentially secondary gastrointestinal infections. If you notice any of these signs a check up is needed.

It sounds like the diarrhea is resolving, so as long as that continues I wouldn't worry about seeing your vet. You can gradually transition back to his usual diet once the stool seems mostly formed. Urinating inside can occasionally be a sign of a urinary tract infection, urinary disease, or a disease that is causing dilute urine. If Louis seems to urinate more frequently or has another accident I'd recommend having your vet examine him and check a urine sample.

I wouldn't expect this behavior as a side effect from surgery and would be more concerned about a UTI or other medical problem. Puppies certainly can get urinary tract infections although they are a bit more common in female dogs than males. I would recommend making an appointment with your veterinarian who would likely recommend checking a urine sample. If Finn does not have a medical issue you could discuss what could be causing inappropriate urination and how to get him back on track with potty training.

Hello. This may be a behavioral issue, but the only way to know definitively is to rule out all possible medical issues. Has Charlie had a urinalysis done? This would show the presence of bacteria, crystals or other possible abnormal cells in the urinary bladder. Then, steam clean the area where he pees or use a enzymatic cleaner labeled for pet urine. This would be a separate issue. Xylitol poisoning occurs within 15-30 minutes of ingestion. I suspect that Kiwi having pee accidents in the house may be caused by a UTI or bladder stones. I'd take her into the vet today to have this checked out. Best of luck.
