My pet ate an unknown blue capsule but seems fine. What now?

I agree with your vet to keep an eye on Calcifer and if his symptoms continue or worsen, to bring him in. Keeping him happy, eating, and spending a little time together to cuddle may help your own nerves as well!

I would check the rest of the packet to see if he has eaten any others - simply having one in his mouth but not ingesting/swallowing it would not cause any significant effects (other than oral irritation if he chewed into the bitter center) but if such a small dog did consume whole tablets there would be a potential for toxic effects and rapid decontamination would be recommended

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! A 250mg tablet is over 5mg/kg which is close to the gastro-intestinal signs and ulceration. It is probably too late to induce vomiting but that would have been ideal to do right after she ate. It is best to have her seen by your Vet to start gastro-intestinal protectants like omeprazole, sucralfate and misoprostal to protect her GI tract from ulceration just to be safe. Hello. That should be ok for Archie. I would recommend monitoring closely for signs of vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, weakness, or inappetance. If these occur get Archie to the vet but if he is acting normally then just monitor. Good luck with him!

Oh no, that's not good. One 200mg tablet can be sufficient to cause symptoms of ibuprofen toxicity in dogs. Typically you can see signs of toxicity within an hour, so if it was yesterday and Jax is acting normally, he may be ok. To help with the constipation, feed him canned food and add water to it.

She did eat a higher dose than recommended (10mg per pound of body weight at the highest, so 60mg) but after 1 hour, the aspirin has already been absorbed by her system . Of course, you can take her to the vet now if you are very worried. After examining her they could probably council you better. If you choose to just monitor her, watch her closely for any signs of illness and if you notice anything abnormal get her to a vet immediately.
