My dog ate a tiny piece of plastic from a treat bag. Will she be okay?

If you see any of these symptoms in the next 24-48hrs, you should take Rayne to your local vets as an emergency. However, if she chewed the plastic into small pieces, most likely she will pass it with her stools and she will not show any worrying symptoms at all.

The plastic is potentially more concerning - it may pass through just fine on its own, especially if she chewed it into pieces, but it's possible that it could become stuck in her intestinal tract and cause an obstruction. I would recommend monitoring her closely for the next 2-3 days for any signs of a problem. Symptoms of an intestinal obstruction would include repeated episodes of vomiting, not eating, acting lethargic, and not having regular bowel movements. If you see any of these symptoms, then I would definitely take her to the vet for an exam and x-rays. But as long as she is acting normal, you shouldn't need to worry :)

If you can barely tell if pieces of the bag are missing then I am sure she will be fine. Watch for vomit, lethargy, not eating and belly pain as signs of a blockage. I wish Zoey the best!

If Ella chewed on the sewing kit but did not actually ingest any of the material I would not be very concerned. It is possible that she chewed on the material but did not ingest any of it. IF she did ingest a small amount of plastic or material it could pass in her stool. As long as she is eating and drinking normally I would monitor her stool for any passing of material. At any time if she is not eating, painful, vomiting or having no defection I would be concerned about a possible blockage and recommend taking her to the vet for an abdominal x-ray. I would expect that something like this would most likely pass through Gg’s gastrointestinal tract without a problem, however plastic can get stuck at any point. If you notice vomiting, diarrhea or a decreased appetite I’d recommend contacting your vet right away.

Since those pieces are small, it is safe to monitor for any GI signs such as vomiting and diarrhea, lethargy or a decreased appetite. There is a good change that can pass through and you will never notice a problem over the next 24-48 hours!

If you are concerned that the pieces are big and it just happened contact a vet to discuss inducing vomiting. They can decide if the pieces are too big to be thrown up. Otherwise watch for lethargy, belly pain, vomit and not wanting to eat as that can be symptoms of a blockage. I wish Mazzy the best!
