My dog ate small plastic pieces from a TV remote. Is she okay?

If you see any of these symptoms in the next 24-48hrs, you should take Rayne to your local vets as an emergency. However, if she chewed the plastic into small pieces, most likely she will pass it with her stools and she will not show any worrying symptoms at all.

Of course the concern would be a gastrointestinal obstruction from her eating pieces of her toy. At this point, if she has only vomited once, you may continue to monitor her closely to see if it is only going to be an isolated episode. Watch closely for signs associated with an obstruction such as nausea, vomiting, anorexia and abdominal pain. A tiny piece of plastic like this is unlikely to cause any problems with Ella. You can monitor her for signs of GI obstruction which would include vomiting, decreased appetite, abdominal pain, and lethargy. If these occur, then she should see her vet right away, but I don't expect that to occur with the small amounts she may have ingested, they will likely just pass through her GI tract. You can feed her something high in fiber to help the passing, such as a piece of whole wheat bread or a teaspoon or two of canned pumpkin.

If the pieces are small it may be possible to wait until they come out the natural way with the feces. If they are large or are obstructing the intestine, your dog may need surgery to remove them. Since Chow Chows are big dogs, they also have a larger diameter intestine, so it is quite possible that she will not need surgery. But it is not possible to tell via the internet and without an x-ray.

No, I do not recommend inducing vomiting. The pieces could get stuck or cause trauma to Zoe's esophagus. This may pass without problem, so keep an eye on her for now, and give her one piece of bread with each meal. No more coconut oil. If you see vomiting, diarrhea, blood in her feces, anorexia, or lethargy, have her seen by a vet right away. Best of luck.

If she swallowed it whole then it could pass in her stool, she could vomit it up on her own or it could becomes stuck and cause a blockage. It is best, if swallowed whole and it just happened, to take her to the Vet right away and have them induce vomiting. We do not recommend hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting. Signs of a blockage are vomiting, not eating and lethargy. I hope this helps!
