It depends on the size of the dog and the amount she ate, but chances are good that, unless she ate several pounds of M&Ms, she will likely only end up with a sore belly and possibly diarrhea. If she ate them less than 1 hour ago, you can induce vomiting by giving an oral dose of hydrogen peroxide, about 1 cc per pound. One tablespoon is about 5 cc. A turkey baster will work if you don't have a syringe. Longer than an hour and it will have already moved into the intestines.

Ideally, your pet should be seen by your veterinarian to ensure that she will be okay. Your vet will do an exam and possibly bloodwork to determine if any further treatment is needed.

It's not good that she ate a bowl of peanut M&Ms. The good news is there is not a lot of chocolate in peanut M&Ms, so depending on the size of the bowl, it's likely there is little to no risk of toxicity. Unless she ate several pounds of it, mostly likely she will end up with a sore stomach and diarrhea. If you do see some diarrhea, I can give you a home remedy to try. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, he starts vomiting food, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. If she’s acting off there could be something else going on- a stomach bug, foreign body, something else she got into. If you are concerned about her I would take her to a vet for an exam and possibly blood work and xrays. They can also give her medications to calm her stomach if needed. My dog ate Reese's cups and foil, now throwing up. What should I do?

Oh no, it's not good that MJ ate an entire bag of Reese's cups! While one doesn't contain a lot of chocolate, an entire bag of them may be enough to cause chocolate toxicity, one sign of which is vomiting. Because of this and his currently symptoms, I would take him into a vet immediately for treatment. He needs decontamination procedures in case he is suffering from chocolate toxicity. There is also the potential that enough foils could cause a GI blockage, and that needs to be ruled in or out as well. Either take him into your normal vet or find an ER vet clinic or vet on call if your normal vet is closed. Best of luck!

My dog ate white chocolate Mentos. Is she okay without symptoms?

Luckily white chocolate does not contain as much of the substances that can be toxic to dogs (Caffeine and theobromine) as can be found in other types of chocolate, so I'm hoping this should not be a significant health problem, however it could cause some issues based on how much Mung ate. If vomiting or diarrhea develops, or you notice a decrease in appetite or energy, I recommend you have Mung seen by a vet. My dog ate a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. Do I need to induce vomiting?

I certainly wouldn't worry about inducing vomiting after just one peanut butter cup. The induction of vomiting poses more risks than the peanut butter cup does! Inducing vomiting at home with hydrogen peroxide comes with the risk of aspiration and significant irritation to the esophagus and stomach. The wrapper will pass without a problem. There isn't enough chocolate in a peanut butter cup to cause any toxicity concerns. Worst case scenario, Jack may develop an upset stomach with a bit of vomiting and diarrhea. If he does, you can offer a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken and white rice for a few days before gradually transitioning back to his normal food. If he only ate the one wrapper, I wouldn't worry too much. The foil isn't stiff enough or large enough to block or cause damage as it moves through. A turkey baster will work if you don't have a syringe. Longer than an hour and it will have already moved into the intestines. Keep an eye on him for a few days to make sue he's okay and watch his feces for evidence that it has come out.
