My dog ate a foil chocolate wrapper. Is it dangerous? What to do?

Chocolate toxicity can cause a significant amount of GI upset (vomiting and diarrhea), but does not tend to cause long term problems unless the dose was high enough to cause seizures. The foil wrappers should not cause a problem unless there is enough foil to cause an obstruction in the GI tract. I would monitor her over the next 72 hours for signs of obstruction, which include vomiting, anorexia, diarrhea, lethargy, and constipation. Should you see any of those signs, I would take her into the vet right away.

He probably has an upset stomach from eating the candy bar. Monitor him for vomiting, diarrhea, etc. and have him examined by a vet if you notice anything abnormal. Your vet can prescribe medications to help.

Oh no, that was naughty of Jax! The good news is that one of these mints is not very big, and therefore would not have a lot of chocolate in it. He would need to consume at least two ounces of chocolate at his weight to have a mild to moderate reaction. There will not be two ounces of chocolate in one mint, so I would not expect Jax to experience any problems from this. As for the foil wrapping, that should pass without problem.

Hello, sorry to hear about Diasy. Its likely that the Acetone may cause her some esophageal and stomach irritation and inflammation. However the aluminum foil would be unlikely to be digested and may cause an obstruction in her GI tract. If she has just recently ingested this, then it may be best to induce vomiting in an attempt to remove the foil. If unsuccessful, then your options may include waiting to see if she passes it knowing that if she doesn't then she may need surgery to remove it, doing an endoscopy to remove the foil, or going to surgery to remove the foil. You should have Daisy seen by a veterinarian to day to atleast obtain an x-ray and confirm the amount and presence of aluminum foil. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Oh no, it's not good that MJ ate an entire bag of Reese's cups! While one doesn't contain a lot of chocolate, an entire bag of them may be enough to cause chocolate toxicity, one sign of which is vomiting. Because of this and his currently symptoms, I would take him into a vet immediately for treatment. He needs decontamination procedures in case he is suffering from chocolate toxicity. There is also the potential that enough foils could cause a GI blockage, and that needs to be ruled in or out as well. Either take him into your normal vet or find an ER vet clinic or vet on call if your normal vet is closed. Best of luck!

It's best to take her to the vet considering the amount of chocolate ingested is unknown and she was vomiting (an early sign of chocolate toxicity). It's also concerning that she ate the wrappers, because these can cause problems in the intestines as well.
