My dog ate old turkey meat. Is botulism a risk or will he get sick?

Help!! My dog ate a pea sized piece of cooked turkey meat that was accidentally left outside (in 50 degree temperatures) for like three weeks?!! Is botulism a concern here?! And should I induce vomiting?! Is he going to get super sick?!

Hello. Please do not worry about such a small piece. Dogs seem to be able to tolerate things much better than we can, primarily because their digestive tract is much shorter than ours. Bad stuff passes through usually fast enough that no problems will occur. Botulism is found in the soil & very, very rarely affects dogs. I would expect this tiny piece of meat was pretty dessicated & will be totally harmless to Rocket. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

She will probably be fine. I highly doubt she will get botulism from it. Just monitor he closely for any abnormal symptoms (vomiting, diarrhea, not eating, lethargy) and if any of those are noticed then get her to a vet for an exam.
