My dog ate old turkey meat. Is botulism a risk or will he get sick?

There may be a small risk for Rocket to develop some minor stomach upset (vomiting or diarrhea). If he is behaving normally otherwise, you can typically manage him at home with a short fast followed by a bland diet fed in small, frequent amounts until symptoms resolve. If there are no symptoms after 24 hours post ingestion, then you will likely see nothing.

Unfortunately it is possible but Zoe may also be completely fine and not have any problems (especially because she may not have swallowed anything). Rinse her mouth out if you have not already done so and then wash your hands well. This can cause pancreatitis in a small dog such as your Puppy. If he starts excessive vomiting and has a stomach ache then bring him in to your veterinarian immediately for treatment. Dogs are scavengers so he could be fine. I definitely would monitor him closely and seek veterinary care right away to prevent a serious problem if he seems ill. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Yuck! Well if Maxie ate any of it she will likely vomit. If she is acting fine I wouldn't worry. If she vomits fast her for 12 hours and start a bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger with rice. Feed 1 cup per 20 lbs per day for 3-5 days. He will not be the first nor the last dog to eat a rotten carcass or meat. I wish you the best!

It shouldn't make him sick, if it does withhold food for 12 hours then offer him boiled boneless chicken and rice every 6 hours in small portions. if he is eating and not vomiting, continue with this diet for 2 days.

Just turkey breast meat should be able to dissolve in the stomach without much trouble. Very large quantities of any food can be uncomfortable until they are digested. If there are bones in it, it could cause irritation to the gut as it travels. If there was fat in it, it could lead to pancreatitis a few hours up to a few days after ingestion. I would continue to monitor Lita's appetite and for vomiting and/or diarrhea. If anything is still of in a day or two, she should get checked out by a vet.
