My Labrador ate a 250mg Keppra pill. Is this dose dangerous for him?

Luckily Keppra has a large safety index, meaning that 20x the therapeutic level (1,200mg/kg) can be given and only cause mild symptoms (salivation and vomiting). Your pet should be ok after receiving 1500 mg at once b/c this is a dosage of 36mg/kg). No need to induce vomiting or visit your ER vet. You can return to his normal 2 pills at his next schedule dosage. I would also recommend just informing your vet for proper record keeping. Hello, Keppra has a wide safety margin and very high dosages have been reported to cause increase salivation. The zonisamide is 2 times the high end of normal, but not near the dose where it could be dangerous. You may note that Molly is sedate, lethargic, she may have some vomiting or wobbly walk. You should contact your veterinarian in the morning to see if they want you to continue normal dosing times or if you should change the timing. Monitor for any overly sedate behavior or obtundation and contact your emergency veterinarian if you note any. Best of luck and hope this helps.

Keppra does have a wide margin of safety, but keep a close eye on Hoyt. If you see any concerning signs like vomiting, lethargy, or diarrhea, have him seen by a vet. Give his next dose at the normal time.

Hello! I have great news for you! Watson is a big enough dog that the amount of Ibuprofen he ate should not cause any toxicity. I would not expect to see any problems as a result of this. He should be his normal, goofy Labrador self today. Hello, & thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Keppra is an excellent anti-seizure medication used extensively in human & veterinary medicine. The advantage to keppra over phenobarb, is the keppra is metabolized unchanged by the body, thus the liver does not ever see it.. Therefore, it is an excellent drug when the liver has become compromised by the phenobarb. Not every dog needs to be switched, but when they are, the seizures are very well controlled. It is really hard to tell exactly what you are asking. Did Bruno swallow one pill of 0.5mg Lonazep (lorazepam)? If so, one tablet will not harm him. This is a benzodiazepine drug and dogs often take medications in this class of drug for anxiety and sedative effects. It can also be given for seizure activity. Dogs however, take a much higher dose than a person so that low dose will not harm him. The only thing you may notice is a bit of sleepiness but I doubt it.
