My puppy ate gardenia roots. What happens if a dog eats gardenia?

Iris can cause tissue irritation when chewed/handled. if ingested, it can cause GI signs such as drooling, vomiting and/or diarrhea. Rinse his mouth with cool water for at least 15 minutes. Monitor for drooling and swelling of tissues. See your vet if the swelling interferes with breathing or eating. "Simple" GI upset can usually be treated at home with a fast followed by a bland diet in small, frequent amounts until symptoms resolve. However, garlic and butter both can affect her in different ways, especially by causing gastrointestinal symptoms like the vomiting. If you think she ate a large amount, she should be evaluated right away as that can be a significant toxicity. Also, begonias are very toxic to dogs sometimes resulting in kidney failure so if she ate any, she should be evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible.
