My dog ate stinging nettle. What are the symptoms and what to do?

Not specifically--nettles are toxic mainly to livestock, and only certain species. However, any kind of pokey weed like a nettle has the potential to cause throat irritation after swallowing and I wouldn't be surprised if Bama starts hacking/gagging after ingestion. If this problem persists for longer than a dag or so, I would recommend taking her to your vet as she may need a medication to soothe her throat irritation.

Gardenia may cause mild gastrointestinal upset or hives if ingested. If Stussy ate a small amount, you may not see any signs, larger quantities may warrant a visit to your veterinarian. I would give her a bath now, gently washing her tail and removing any nettles if possible from her tail. Wear gloves so you don't get stung as well. Stinging nettles cause skin problems such as redness, swelling, and intense itching. Keep an eye on her, and if you notice those symptoms, take her into a vet to get medication to treat it. When a dog eats poison ivy, it can cause GI problems such as vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Luckily though, ingestion isn't fatal and if you do see some GI signs from Sam eating it, I can give you a home remedy for it. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. Bee stings can be serious if the dog happens to be allergic, just like in people - but the vast majority of the time, they don't cause any major problems at all :) Many dogs like to catch bees and swallow them, and I very rarely see any significant issues related to this. If Dutch is acting normal, there should be no cause for concern. Signs of a possible allergic reaction would include facial swelling, difficulty breathing, vomiting, or weakness or collapse. If you see any of these signs, then I would take him to a veterinarian right away. Otherwise, you can just monitor him for the next few hours to make sure everything is okay.

This lichen is likely fungus, and while most types of fungi are mildly or non toxic, there are some kinds that can cause severe symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, lack of appetite, and abdominal pain. You could take her into a vet now to have vomiting induced with a shot to get the lichen out of her stomach and take away any risk of toxicity. You can also choose to monitor her over the next 24-48 hours, and if you see any of the symptoms I mentioned above, take her into a vet immediately for treatment. I hope this helps!
