My dog ate an EOS chapstick. Should I be worried about his health?

Hello. Since Luna just ate the chapstick & not any of the plastic, he will be fine. There is nothing toxic in the chapstick, but it may give him a loose stool for a day or so. But otherwise, not too much to worry about. Thanks for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Butterscotch should be fine. You may see some vomiting or diarrhea in the next 24 hours but I doubt it. If he does and it lasts longer than 24 hours I would seek veterinary attention. Kisses to Butterscotch!

Yo may see some GI upset in the form of vomiting and/or diarrhea in the next 24-48 hours. Feed a bland diet until it resolves if necessary. See your vet of you notice extreme lethargy or loss of appetite.

You may see some vomiting and/or diarrhea in the next 12-24 hours. You can withhold food for 8-12 hours then feed a bland diet until any GI upset resolves. See your vet if Buster develops, extreme lethargy, loss of appetite or does not stop vomiting/diarrhea.

My puppy ate chapstick. Is it safe or could he get sick from it?

Chapstick is mostly made of Vaseline which won’t hurt him. I’m sure he’s just being an active puppy. This is like having a toddler and you should puppy proof your home. He will get better once he’s older. In the meantime give him plenty of exercise so he’s very tired, and lots of toys that are safe for him. My small dog ate lip balm. Is it toxic? What should I watch for?

If your dog did not eat the actual tube and only the content, there should be no problem as non of these ingredients is toxic. However, there is a possibility that Max may get diarrhea. If that happens, you can do the following: Take your dog off food for about 12 hrs, then feed bland food such as boiled rice with boiled white chicken meat in small quantities over several feeds a day. Do this for a day, then start replacing small quantities of rice with his normal food over the next two days until he is at the normal quantity of his regular food. If the diarrhea does not go away by the end of the third day, or your dog is lethargic and dehydrated,you will need to take your dog to a veterinarian for an exam.

My miniature dachshund ate lip balm. Is it safe? What should I do?

Cheater is a naughty guy! But, luckily he should be ok. I would expect to possibly see diarrhea, given all the oils in this lip balm. You should watch for that. Vomiting would be rare, but possible, given the castor oil.

My dog ate lanolin balm and plastic bottle. Is it dangerous?

Hello there! The lanolin itself is not toxic, but may cause some temporary, greasy diarrhea. I see that he is an Australian Shepherd- since he is long haired, I will give you the gross warning that there may be a smelly bath in his future after the lanolin passes. As long as he did not ingest any large pieces of plastic, I would not be concerned. If you're not sure if he got any large pieces, the signs of a serious problem from ingesting plastic would be: not wanting to eat, lethargy, vomiting, and diarrhea. If you see those signs, I would recommend a vet visit and an x-ray to make sure he does not have any plastic stuck in his intestinal tract. I hope this is helpful!
