My puppy ate blush. Is makeup toxic? How do I clean it off his fur?

Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Schnauzer | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 17 days old | 5 lbs

Good morning! My new puppy ran off with my cream blush while I was getting ready this morning. He had it maybe for a minute or two, and the bottle is almost gone. He had some pink on his fur from the blush- how should I get that out? It is so pigmented. Also, are there any ingredients toxic to dogs in cloud paint? Should I be alarmed? I can provide the ingredient list, but I have limited characters here.

Hello, sorry to hear about Watson. Likely they easiest way is to rinse this off thoroughly with warm water and make sure you dry him off completely. Potential for toxins do exist but it would be dependent on the ingredient list. Anything with lead or other minerals would be concerning. You may also contact he ASPCA poison control line and they can offer you how likely Watson is to experience toxicity from ingesting this blush paint.

If it is water based that could cause only some gastrointestinal signs, like vomiting, inappetence, diarrhoea. There’s really no specific amount or ‘toxic dose’ of paint that’s harmful. I would recommend anyway to get in touch with your veterinarian and discuss it.

Mascara is typically non-toxic, but it may be if he ate any if the tube pieces, they could cause some damage to his GI tract. Should I worry? My dog licked potassium permanganate. Is it toxic?

I don't think it will be toxic for Tosco! Flushing with water should be enough. I wouldn't give any more milk because dogs cannot digest milk like humans and it may cause vomiting or diarrhea. If he starts to have vomiting, diarrhea, or lethargy, I would take him to the vet. Good luck and kisses to Tosco!

Not so good. I would recommend that you call ASPCA's poison control number. That number is 888-426-4435. There is a $65 charge, but they will be able to best advise you. Please have the label available so you can let them know the amount of shampoo ingredients listed, how much was in the bottle and what, if any, other potentially concerning ingredients were.
