My dog ate a bay leaf. Will it make him sick? Are bay leaves toxic?

To be on the safe side, I would recommend inducing vomiting by a vet even with her history of digestive upset since this toxin will also cause digestive issues. At California's age it is very common to want to eat everything they see, just like human babies want to put everything in their mouths. California should always be monitored until her curiosity stage and desire to eat everything calms down. Walk her on a leash when outside and teach her to "leave it" when she picks up things in her mouth. With that being said, eating a leaf here and there shouldn't be a problem.
