My 3lb Yorkie needs Amoxidrop. How do I find the correct dosage?

I suggest you call your veterinarian who has supplied the amoxidrops, and tell him you do not remember the dosage. He may have adjusted the dosage specifically for your cat and has a record of it in the files. I am sure the tech on the phone can look it up and tell you. I am afraid we are not allowed to give dosages unless we have a patient owner/pet/veterinary relationship and have seen your animal in person.

In the US it is not legal to prescribe medications with out a label and the medications not reconstituted (made in to a liquid from the powder form). Are you in the US? Also in the US we do not prescribe Acetominophen ( https://www.petcoach.co/canigive/dog/tylenol/ ). I recommend calling your Vet regarding that medication as we can't recommend giving it to dogs. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Azithromycin is an antibiotic. We commonly prescribe it for upper respiratory infections or infectious coughs. I have used it to speed up the regression of viral papillomas. The medication is once daily and should be given with food. I would give her no more than 0.50 mls once daily. I hope this helps!

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! My fist recommendation would be to call the vet to double check because amoxicillin has a very broad dose range. This is a little bit higher dose than I usually use but may be exactly what your vet wanted. (I would do about 2 cc’s twice daily for most patients her size.) There is not much harm in higher dosing, other than an increased risk of nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea so don’t worry about poisoning Lupita. Twice daily dosing for the amoxicillin is definitely correct as this drug needs to be in the bloodstream for a sustained time to work properly. The prednisone dose is fine. Yes, but I prefer cephalexin or cefpodoxime for skin infection. The amoxicillin dose for a dog 40lbs would be about 200mg every 12 hours. I would recommend seeing a vet though for appropriate antibiotic therapy recommendations. Topical therapy should also be considered. I typically recommend using a shampoo such as Douxo PS chlorhexidine combination shampoo and bathe twice weekly until the infection is resolved. I also recommend using welactin omega 3 fish oil and essential 6 spot on by dermoscent. Malacetic conditioning spray is also a good option to spray isolated areas on the body where infection is present. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction.
