My dog ate something he's allergic to. How long should I worry?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labradoodle | Male | neutered | 50 lbs

Dog ate something he is allergic to. (Bread) He did poop and is acting normal. How long do I have to be worried about him possibly getting extremely sick? It's been about 8 hours and he is acting normal. He had a runny poop about an hour ago, and is currently sleeping.

Any severe allergic reaction such as an anaphylactic reaction would occur within 15 mins to a few hours of coming into contact with something they are allergic to. If this period passed and no serious signs (swollen face, trouble breathing, etc) appeared Buster should be alright. Hopefully his poop returns to normal within the next day or two. I would just continue monitoring Buster and hopefully he feels better!
Hope this helps!
