My dog has a 106° fever after ear cleaning. What should I do?

A dog's normal temperature can be as high as 102.5, so below that it's normal (99-102.5 is normal). Especially at such as young age, I wouldn't attempt any home treatments for a fever and get to a vet right away. That said, sugar and warm water wouldn't do anything for the fever, except if it encouraged extra drinking which could support general health

Poor Shorty. You put a cold compress on his head to see if that helps with the fever. Take his temperature rectally. A dog's normal temperature is between 101-102.5F. If it's above 103F, take him into a vet immediately; otherwise, you can reevaluate in the morning and take him then.

Usually a virus is what causes a persistent high fever. I suggest you consult with the vet to get some medication to treat the fever like a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory. Often intravenous fluids are needed to correct dehydration as well.

If Mia has a fever it is probably because she is suffering from an infection. you need to take her to the vet in order to get her checked, if she has an infection indeed the vet will prescribe an antibiotic course for Mia to get better.

Poor girl. I am unsure if she is spayed or not, but if she isn't she could have an infected uterus (pyometra), overheated, a current tick borne disease (i.e. Ehrlichia is a possible cause if she was currently re-infected), etc. Skin infections very rarely will cause a systemic increase in body temperature, so this is likely not the cause. I am sorry there are no vets open right now, but it is good that she i still eating well and relatively alert. I would make a point to get her seen as soon as the vet opens for some bloodwork analysis to start. A fever this high is usually indicative of a bacterial or viral disease going on. Your veterinarian will need to run some tests to try and determine the cause of the fever. Once the cause is identified the proper antibiotics, antifungals, or antipruritic drugs can be prescribed. The tablet given to your dog is basically a fever reducer but will not treat the cause of the fever. I would recommend taking your dog in for a recheck as soon as you’re able to.
