Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund | Male | neutered

He's on antibiotics for ear bacterial infection but both ears are now red and he feels like he's running a fever. What can I do to help bring that down.

Poor Shorty. You put a cold compress on his head to see if that helps with the fever. Take his temperature rectally. A dog's normal temperature is between 101-102.5F. If it's above 103F, take him into a vet immediately; otherwise, you can reevaluate in the morning and take him then.
