Dog on ear infection meds has red ears & fever. How can I help him?

Poor Scout! If he is really lethargic or walking in circles then I would have him seen today as it could be an inner ear infection. But if he is otherwise acting okay except for shaking his head or pawing at it then yes, it can wait until tomorrow. Your vet will be able to determine the type of infection and put him on the proper ear meds if needed. I hope this helps!

The gum color looks normal. I do not see any evidence of jaundice. Don't give milk. It is not going to help and it may make her sick. Just give water. If she is not better you need to go back to the vet for some blood testing.

It sounds like from your description that Doc Brown is sick, and I would be thinking that he could be suffering from a respiratory infection or allergies. Feeling sick would lead him to be more irritable as well, and it is possible he could have a fever. A dog's normal temperature is 101-102.5F, and anything above 102.5F is a fever. Make sure it is in-fact a fever. Dogs have a higher temperature than people. If his temperature is less than 39C, then he does not have a fever. Fever usually indicates one of the following: 1). Infection 2) Toxin ingestion 3). Heat stress If he just got done playing and/or running around, then it may be heat stress. The temperature will go down if he stays calm in a cool environment. If it's not heat stress and his temperature is above 39C, then this is an emergency and he needs to go to the vet. Do not give any fever medication meant for people, because these can be dangerous. Oh no, poor Flex! It's not normal that he is shivering and has has vomited, but he may be feeling unwell from the ear infection. Keep him warm, and take his temperature. A dog's normal temperature is between 101-102.5F, and if it's above 103F, then yes take him into the pet emergency. If his temperature is normal, I can give you a home remedy to try to see if that helps. Withhold food for 8 hours, then feed him a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. Should Flex vomit in the absence of food, vomits the bland diet, becomes very lethargic, stops drinking water, or starts vomiting water, then take him into the pet emergency immediately.
