The most important thing to treat a fever is to treat the underlying cause. Fevers in dogs happen because of infection, inflammation, immune disease, and sometimes even cancer. A dog's normal body temperature is between 100 and 102.5 degrees Fahrenheit. The most accurate reading is to take it rectally if you can. Is she does have a fever, I would recommend taking her to a veterinarian for proper diagnosis and treatment. Please do not use any human over-the-counter medication such as aspirin, ibuprofen or Tylenol as these can have serious side effects in animals. For a fever, it's also not recommended to cool them with ice or cold.
