Is my chihuahua's reverse sneezing and eye discharge due to allergies?

The most common reason for nasal congestion, sneezing and reverse sneezing are: allergies, upper respiratory tract infections, or foreign material above the soft palpate. I usually put animals with these symptoms on an antihistamine and an antibiotic. Most of the time that resolves the issue in an otherwise healthy young dog. I would take him to the Vet since it has been going on for several weeks. Good luck!

Hello, poor Diego- reverse sneezing can be quite distressing for your dog. If its happening frequently its possible that he may have something irritating in his nose - something he inhaled? There is an over the counter nasal spray called neo synephrine which may help him. If he has blood or mucus discharge - take him to your vet.

Hi, and thanks for your question. That is likely to be due to a mild to moderate respiratory infection and conjunctivitis, probably secondary to an allergy or infection. A check up would be needed to confirm this suspicion and appropriate treatment might include antibiotics and anti-inflammatory eye drops. Corneal injuries must be ruled out as well (just in case). I would recommended Kaya see her veterinarian for an exam so her vet can determine whether or not she has an infection or whether it is just caused by an allergy and to determine what treatment may be most appropriate. Poor Noodle. It looks like the discharge is a whitish grey color which means it is likely allergy related. I would try some benadryl twice a day to see if that helps. If it isn't improving, it gets worse, he starts quinting, or the discharge is yellow/green, I would have your vet take a look as he will likely need some antibiotic drops. Diarrhea can be observed with conditions such as colitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, among many other possibilities. Sneezing can definitely be due to allergies and that is probably the most common reason. Some medications for allergies can be started for this to be used on an as needed basis. If her diarrhea or sneezing persist, I recommend that you have Irie evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They may choose to check for parasites and to start medications for diarrhea and/or allergies depending on the results of needed. Good luck! Hoping for a speedy recovery!
