What's the best nutrition for my Boxer? Can I add meat and veggies?

I recommend the majority of his diet consists of the Royal Canin as that has the proper balance of vitamins and minerals for a growing dog and the human diet does not. The Royal Canin should have a place on the label for recommended feeding amounts for his age and weight. Kisses to Caster!

This is not a balanced diet at all for a puppy. Puppies need more calcium, protein, and calories than adult dogs, as well as many vitamins and nutrients. Mince and rice will not provide this for Caster, and this may be why he's so skinny. He needs a puppy formulated food. Brands I recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, or Iams. If you really want to feed him a homemade diet, then I will put links below to websites that give recipes for homemade diets that are nutritionally balanced. Hello, congratulations on your new puppy. Ideally, any commercial puppy food should be sufficient to maintain Jax's growth. Pet foods with better reputation include brands such as Royal Canin, Hills, and Eukanuba but this does not necessarily have to be the case for your puppy. If Jax is eating, drinking, and gaining weight adequately, then you should continue to feed pedigree puppy food until he is about a year old, then transition him to adult food. I recommend a high quality diet that is hypoallergenic which may help him such as Science Diet z/d or Royal canin ultamino. Both of these are of great quality and also are well-tolerated. If he is 56 pounds like the profile says, he should eat about 1,000 calories per day. That caloric information of the food should be in the back of the bag of the diet you choose. Brands I like include Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. I would feed Gotham one of those. No, I wouldn't add cooked meats to his diet, he doesn't need them. You can give it to him as an occasional treat. Giving it too often will lead him to not each his dog food. I hope this helps!

This means that you will likely get a different answer from each person you ask. My recommendations are to get the best quality dry dog food you can, and feed that. As long as your dog is happy, eating, having normal poops, is a good weight and has a good hair coat, don't worry about other details. Raw meat of any kind is very dangerous and causes severe infections, and bones of any kind (cooked or raw) are very dangerous as well, so I would avoid those. If you would like to feed some meat or vegetables in addition to the dry food you can. Cook the meat as you would for yourself to eat, but without any spices or seasoning (garlic and onions are toxic to dogs), and vegetables like potatoes, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, pumpkin, are all good as well (cooked or raw).
