How to apply dog tick spray, avoid side effects, and spot symptoms?

How to spray freedom spray for ticks on dogs?whether to start from neck or head?should it b sprayed on legs?paws?tail?stomach n chest area?plz tell.n what r side effects?n how much time does a tick bite take to show symptoms?also she has brown n black ticks.black one would turn into dark gray n swell up but does not tend to grow very large as it's given on net.

According to their website:

How to use:

Assemble the spray by fitting the pipe properly to spray gun.
Spray the solution on the body of your pet from a distance of 10 - 20 cm against the direction of the hair.
Spray till the hair of your pet gets wet.
Apply on the complete body of animal & give main attention to the affected areas.
Allow your pet to air dry instead of towel dry.

Precautions:

Avoid spraying into eyes.
Do not allow your pet to lick after spraying.
Wash the hands after use.
Spray in a well-ventilated area.
Keep the sprayed pets away from heat & flame until he gets dry.

I don't see any mentioned side effects. It can take a few weeks sometimes to see symptoms of a tick borne disease.

Hello. Unfortunately, without a laboratory analysis, there is no way to know which tick may be a disease carrier. Spray your fipronil on a cloth & wipe down all areas you did not spray. My dog's tired & wobbly after tick treatment. Are these side effects?

In this product they use Amitraz. I have seen dogs react poorly to this medication. Typically they have vomiting, diarrhea and lethargic behavior. I would recommend taking him to your veterinarian for supportive care. Typically this is not a fatal medication but can make them dehydrated and need medical care! Some dogs just like people are more sensitive to certain medications. I would not recommend using this product again. Hope that helps

What's the best flea/tick spray for dogs? Any better options?

I actually don't care much for sprays, in general - there are much better options for flea/tick control in dogs. My favorites are oral medications like Nexgard or Bravecto, but a Seresto collar or topical medication like K9 Advantix can also work well. If you really want to use a spray, I would suggest Frontline spray - it isn't always terribly effective for fleas, in my experience, but works well for ticks and should be safe. Many of the other over-the-counter sprays contain very harsh chemicals that can be dangerous, so I don't usually recommend them unless you have no other choices.

My dog has side effects from Simparica & Vectra 3D. Are they safe?

I think both are good products with few side effects. The topical medications do sometimes cause some irritation to the skin, even if it doesn’t seem red, but it typically does not last long. Oral preventatives in he same class as Simparica can cause gastrointestinal signs and lethargy. You could try a different oral medication like Nexgard or Bravecto - some do better with one over the other. I wouldn’t worry about the smell from the Vectra.

Is my dog reacting to Advantix applied near tail? Biting & can't walk.

He may have an adverse skin reaction to the Advantix. This happens sometime and should subside within a few days. You should really apply the spot-on onto the skin between the shoulder blades after parting the hair. The skin is less sensitive there (thicker), Should the spot where you applied it get raw, you need to have it examined by your veterinarian.

Should I worry about Hartz UltraGuard Pro flea shampoo side effects?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If you followed the label instructions then the risk of side effects are rare. I would assume you would have seen them by now. The product wouldn't be on the market if it wasn't safe. There are sadly no medications on the market that are 100% safe, everything has reported side effects. My only advice is to avoid flea and tick dips and sahmpoos. Use a good preventative like the oral flea and tick medications: Nexgard, Bravecto or Simparica or the Seresto Collar which lasts 8 months.
