Why is my 7-week-old puppy sleeping all the time? Is it normal?

Is it Ok For By 7 week old puppy Be Sleeping Almost The Whole Day Only Gets Up To Pee Or A Little Run And Playing And Back To Sleep??

Yes, sleeping frequently during the day is not uncommon for puppies less than 8 weeks old. Puppies need a lot of sleep just like human babies do and will change as Sugar gets older. As long as Sugar is normal otherwise (is eating and drinking normally, has normal stool and urine, etc), I wouldn't worry too much. I hope this helps!

Yes, this is normal for a puppy to go through phases where they are very active and then want to sleep a lot. Annie is growing, and she could be going through a growth spurt causing her to sleep more. Puppies do sleep more than adults dogs, up to 19 hours a day. Given that Annie is eating and going to the bathroom normally, I would just monitor her for now. If you are very concerned about her, you can have her see the vet for a health check.

With her being so young and little, if she isn't eating, drinking and lethargic then I would have her seen soon by a vet. She is likely to get dehydrated really quick. There are many many things that can cause lethargy in a puppy so if she doesn't start to perk up soon I would have her seen. I hope this helps.

Hi and thank you for your question on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Having a puppy is sometimes a lot like having a baby or a small child! This is okay and normal behavior for a puppy to have bursts of energy at all the wrong times it seems. Her energy will start to settle out and habits become more regular as she gets a little older. Maintain a regular schedule for Biscuit (regular times for eating, potty, etc) and she will adapt gradually to that. Be patient!

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Short answer is not necessarily. Not all puppies are highly energetic and pretty much all puppies sleep a lot. It also takes some time for them to get used to their new environment. I would give him more time for him to come along especially since he is otherwise doing so well. If at any point he develops symptoms of illness such as vomiting, diarrhea or inappetence, have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Otherwise, he is likely to be just fine. Good luck!

Why isn't my 7-week-old puppy eating well? How much should he sleep?

It is not unusual for puppies to not eat great as they get used to eating solid food. I would recommend you try different kinds of both kibble and canned food. If there is no improvement and he continues to not eat, I would recommend you consider having him evaluated by a veterinarian for that purpose and also to possibly establish care with a veterinarian for recommendations on preventative and early life care. Why does my puppy sleep so much? Is it normal or a sign of illness?

Hello. Puppies do sleep a lot. As long as Sky has periods of activity & is eating well, at least 3 times a day, & has regular eliminations, no diarrhea, then he is not probably overtly ill. But if he is suddenly acting sleepy when he was a more active pup, then this is not normal & he probably needs to be evaluated by your veterinarian. My new puppy sleeps all the time and won't play. Is this normal?

At 24 days old a puppy should be sleeping and eating, urinating and defecating. That is all they do at this age. Ideally Bee should still be with his mother st this age. If he is not he needs to be bottle fed every few hours with puppy formula. If he is too lethargic to nurse he needs a veterinarian exam. But give it time he will start playing in a month or two.
