Is 34mg praziquantel twice a day too much for my 7lb chihuahua?

There are no warnings with praziquantel and dogs who have seizures, but I would check with your vet first to be safe before giving it to Nikki. If your vet says it's ok, then give her the whole dose as half a dose won't work. I hope this helps!

Knowing that information will help one of us let you know for sure if it's an issue or not! However... praziquantel is usually prescribed for tapeworms, and sold often in 34mg tablets. DO NOT give multiple doses in a day. Cats get tapeworms by ingested fleas that are infected with the tapeworm larvae so be sure to get the fleas under control.

Hi, it is fine to give the two tablets together as a single dose. The dose is accurate for a 20 kg dog, how often your repeat it will depend on how frequently he comes in contact with parasites. If there are lots of worms in the environment, he could be wormed every 3 months but I would double check with your vet. Hope this helps !

That dosage works out to 1ml per pound. The female weighs 905 grams which is 2 pounds. Ideally, you should submit a stool sample to your veterinarian to diagnose intestinal parasites. Once you know what they have, if anything, you can treat appropriately. The deworming should be repeated every 2 weeks until 12 weeks of age, then switch to a monthly heartworm/intestinal parasite preventative.

Drontal is a very safe deworming tablet, so I would give Tofy one table. Doses of up to 10 times the recommended dose will usually only cause some nausea, so giving her a little bit extra will not likely result in any harm. I hope this helps!

Fendbendazole and Trifexis will both treat for roundworms. Praziquantel only deworms for tapeworms, not roundworms. You can give the praziquantel but it is best to wait at least 24 hours after you have given the others before doing so.
