My kitten is throwing up after antibiotics. Can I syringe feed?

Unfortunately, some antibiotics can cause GI upset (vomiting and/or diarrhea). Since Snow is a kitten, we certainly worry more about her vomiting and getting dehydrated. Since it's too late to contact your vet tonight, I would try to offer Snow a small amount of water overnight and see if she is able to keep that down. If she does not want to drink water, you can try a small amount of a low sodium chicken broth or the water (not oil) that canned tuna or salmon is packed in. I would recommend contacting your vet in the morning to get their recommendation from there. If Snow continues to vomit, she will certainly need to be seen by your vet for some medication. Good luck! I recommend finishing out his liquid antibiotic via oral syringe if you haven’t already. If he is still eating his dry food, then I wouldn’t worry too much about him avoiding canned food for now. You can try putting a very small amount of canned food in his mouth every few days after to show him that the food no longer has a medicinal taste. With patience and time he may start eating canned food on his own again. If he is not eating at all ( including dry food), then I recommend bringing him in to see your veterinarian as complete inappetance for more than 2 days in cats can lead to a very serious condition called hepatic lipidosis. If he is not eating at all, your vet may do additional diagnostics and/or recommend anti-nausea medications and/or appetite stimulants. Good luck!

Antibiotics can cause GI upset in cats, so it could be that Korben Dallas was eating less while he was on the antibiotics. Now that he's off the antibiotics, he's feeling better and eating much more quickly. That would be why he's throwing up all of his food. I would try to feed him smaller amounts more frequently to have him slow down his eating. If that doesn't help with the vomiting, I would take him into the vet for an exam, as he could have a medical illness causing the vomiting.

Yes, you can syringe feed Chewy, but it's extremely serious that he has mucus dripping from his jaws. He may need intensive veterinary care to treat his severe infection, and I would take him back into a vet immediately.

Is he still on the antibiotics? If so maybe you could call and request a different medication? If he is no longer taking the medication and he is still vomiting then she should have a follow up appointment. It is possible that it is just coincidental with the neutering and he could have a foreign body in his stomach, or a parasite causing him to vomit. That is awesome news! I am so glad your kitty is feeling better. Just remember to finish the antibiotics for the duration of time that your vet prescribed them to ensure he doesn’t rebound and get sick again. Also always give the antibiotics with food and report any adverse reactions (vomiting, diarrhea, lack of appetite, lethargy, etc) to your vet rigth away if seen. I would recommend that you take Arfa to your vet for a physical examination and possibly diagnostic testing, such as bloodwork, parvo testing, or x-rays. The symptoms you describe are a little vague, but could be caused by bacterial infection, viral infection (such as panleukopenia virus), intestinal parasites, intestinal obstruction, among many others. At this point, offer Arfa many different types of dry and wet cat food and even kitten milk replacer to see if you can entice her to eat. You can also syringe her water or pedialyte to try to maintain hydration, however this can worsen nausea. Many times kittens that aren't interested in eating need IV fluids to stay hydrated. Periset is an anti-nausea medication. Mega CV is an antibiotic. Polybion is a vitamin supplement.
