How to transition a picky kitten from wet to dry food without vomiting?

Poor thing! I would continue with the baby food but start mixing some mild canned cat food in. Start with a very small amount and work your way to a predominate cat food mixture. I would also make sure she is dewormed at least twice as many young kittens have GI parasites that can make them vomit (in severe cases)

You can switch their food but you want to slowly transition them to the new food. This means you want to start with mixing only a small amount of the new food in with the old food for a few days then over a 10 day period, increase the amount of new food while decreasing the amount of old food until you are just feeding the new food around day 10. By slowly transitioning them to a new food, it decreases the risk of causes an upset stomach. I hope this helps!

If when you transition her to canned food she starts vomiting again, I highly recommend that you have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Hello, any new diet that will be offered should be transitioned gradually. Sudden diet changes may cause a decreased appetite, vomiting or diarrhea. So transition the diet slowly. A kitten food is needed for both of them; boiled chicken breast is fine as a part of the diet but shouldn't be the sole food... isn't nutritionally balanced the way a kitten food is. You can try keeping him on a sensitive stomach food such as Iams limited ingredient, Fromm, or Purina sensitive stomach. However, it sounds like Keeko may have a inflammatory bowel disease and really the prescription diets have more reliable results. Also I would keep in mind that sudden switches from one food to the next can cause upset stomach issues in and of themselves. It is recommend to do a slow transition over the course of 7-10 days whenever you are making a food change. This is just 1 test to run so this should be something you could feasible do to at least get him started on something more reliable and effective. If the vomiting does not improve within a few weeks of being on the food, or if he develops any more symptoms, then he should be worked up further (i.e. abdominal x-rays). There are a number of potential causes of such clinical signs, including dietary indiscretion, pancreatitis, parasite infestation, infection, and ingestion of a toxin or poison. Because you have only noticed these signs over the course of two days I would continue to monitor Sassy at home. Rest Sassy's gastrointestinal tract by holding back food for 6 hours. Then you can continue with a bland and easily digested food of the boiled chicken breast and provide plenty of fresh water. If Sassy does not improve, has profuse vomiting or diarrhoea, you notice fresh blood, Sassy seems lethargic, in pain or depressed I would advise a trip to the veterinarian.
