My kitten is a picky eater and throws up. How can I fix their diet?

Poor thing! I would continue with the baby food but start mixing some mild canned cat food in. Start with a very small amount and work your way to a predominate cat food mixture. I would also make sure she is dewormed at least twice as many young kittens have GI parasites that can make them vomit (in severe cases)

Yes I suspect it's the kitten food causing Buddy to have an upset stomach and vomit. Sudden changes in diet can lead to these symptoms. Feed him a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones or skin) in small amounts a couple times a day for a few days, the start slowly adding in his normal diet. If he refuses to eat the bland diet, vomits the bland diet, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, continues to have diarrhea, has blood in his stool, and/or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet immediately. One way to try to transition Sassy to a dry food is to gradually decrease the amount of canned food and leave a bowl of the dry food out at all times of possible. Decrease the amount of canned food by 25% every 3-5 days. She will eventually start eating the dry food. It is important to feed her a high quality dry kitten food. I recommend Iams or Royal Canin. The vomiting could be due to many things. Parasites or dietary indiscretion are common in young kittens. I recommend to have her feces checked for worms by her veterinarian. Causes of vomiting in kittens are: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, ate something causing a blockage, food allergy/intolerance, hairballs or reaction to a new treat/food or table scraps. If Mau is still eating and active I would try to get him on 100% kitten food. Some cats vomit more on canned and vice versa. So have both available. Chicken isn't a balanced diet for a cat. You can also try some laxatone in case he has hairballs. If he stops eating or continues to vomit I would have him rechecked. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. To be honest, you can probably just offer Esmeralda a small amount of her normal food. Start with about 1/4 of her normal meal size. If she keeps that down well, you can give her a little more in a few hours (or just give her her normal sized breakfast in the morning). If when you transition her to canned food she starts vomiting again, I highly recommend that you have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Goldie could be vomiting and have watery stool due to many reasons including a sudden change in diet, an infection or parasites. You may try feeding her a bland diet if she will eat it. A bland diet can consist of 25% boiled white meat chicken and 75% boiled white rice. This should all be plain. If she will not eat it, continue feeding her the kitten food. Offer her both canned and dried. At her age, she does not need milk of any form. If she is still sick tomorrow, have her examined and treated by the veterinarian.
