What probiotics are safe for my 3-month-old kitten with diarrhea?

I would not give human kaopectate in a kitten that young. You are better off trying pro-pectalin/probiotic paste made for animals and if the diarrhea does not clear then consult with your vet. I would continue with either her current cat food or you can do boiled chicken breast and cooked white rice for a few days, but try not to change up her food too much as that can worsen diarrhea. Other causes of diarrhea in a kitten that may need diagnosis by a vet include food intolerance, food allergies, intestinal parasites, bacterial infection, or panleukopenia.

I can't say that it's safe to give her, and you have to be very careful giving human medications to young kittens, as you can accidentally do great harm. In addition, it may not be the right treatment for her diarrhea. For example, diarrhea in kittens can be caused by intestinal worms, which Metamucil will do nothing to help with treatment. Hi. Yes they are usually good at controlling the amount. The diarrhea may be normal puppy poop, but if not, i recommend getting a fecal sample in to the veterinarian to be checked for parasites. If he isnt vomiting and is growing well, no need to limit. 7ml though is a bit too much. Lol

Make sure they are on a good quality milk replacer such as kmr. Changing it at all between different brands or switching from powder to liguid can cause diarrhea. Increase frequency of feedings to compensate for the diarrhea. And a probiotic such as bene back may help. If constant a vet visit for fluids may be recommended. If they didn't receive colostrum or milk from mom at all they are at higher risk from infections and may not survive despite best care. The syrup you are giving is an antibiotic - not a probiotic. It may be making the diarrhea worse. The cat needs a general dewormer (like pyrantel pamoate) and an antiprotozoal (like sulfadimethoxine). Those are the two medications I would be giving. An antibiotic like Cefpodoxomine is not a treatment for diarrhea.
