My 4-week-old kitten has diarrhea. Is Metamucil safe to give her?

And then explore different food options or pursue other testing as the vet recommends, because there is almost certainly an underlying issue (although that doesn't mean it's something serious or dangerous. Probiotics, a short course of antibiotics, a hypoallergenic diet can all help with diarrhea in cats. No, this will do nothing to help Riniyah with her diarrhea. I do not recommend giving it to her. A common cause of diarrhea in kittens is intestinal worms. If she isn't up to date on her deworming treatments, I recommend giving her one such as Panacur. She will need a second course to treatment two weeks after the first to kill all the worms. Kitties can't digest human milk well. This is likely what gave your little one diarrhea. I would switch back to the KMR and start mixing in small amounts of wet kitty starter formula food. You can also mix in 1-2 tsp of canned pumpkin (not the pie filling) to help harden her stools and continue feeding her kitten only food. If he stools are not getting better after 24-48 hrs then its best to take her to your vet for a short course of antibiotics to get her bacterial flora back to normal.
