When is it safe to treat my injured cat for fleas and worms?

I usually do not recommend using Praziquantel in lactating mother cats, Pyrantel Pamoate is usually fine and they can be dewormed from around 4 weeks of age. flea treatment can be given as soon as 2 days of age-- the ONLY safe product is Frontline spray.

Frend is so handsome, and he's so lucky that you have allowed yourselves to be adopted. Using a deworming treatment is an excellent idea, especially since he lives outdoors. I would recommend using Drontal or Panacur. You can get them from the vet (it would be a good idea to get him checked out by the vet, get him vaccines as well), and they are safe. All the cats in the house will need to be treated with the deworming treatment and flea treatment. If two of the cats have fleas, then the third likely has them as well and needs to be treated. Even if the third doesn't at the moment, there will be fleas in the home, and it could easily get them, so it does need protection. In addition, it is possible that your third cat also has tapeworms. I would get an additional flea treatment and deworming treatment, and give both to all of them. As for treating the house, I would wash all the bedding in hot soapy water. Vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home. In terms of your twins, keep them out of any rooms where you use the spray (same for the cats) until the spray is fully dried. If you do decide to flea bomb the house, remove the cats and your twins for the entire day. At the end of the day, it should be safe to bring them back home. You can talk to an exterminator to get more help on this issue.

Hi there. While it's not ideal to delay her next scheduled dose of medication for deworming and flea prevention, this doesn't normally cause any major problems. Especially for an indoor-only cat, as her risk of exposure to these things is fairly low. it's possible that she may pick up some fleas or parasites in the meantime after her most recent dose stops working, but as long as you give the next dose as soon as you're able to, that should get things back on track. :)

Poor Luna! There are many different parasites that she could have been passing in her stool -- roundworms, hookworms, or tapeworms. She most likely acquired parasites from her mother either through the placenta or milk. Pyrantel pamoate is a common dewormer used to treat both roundworms and hookworms, but it is not typically started until 2 weeks of age. However, this medication is extremely safe and may be used off-label prior to 2 weeks of age. Ideally, I do recommend taking Luna to a vet to first determine the type of parasite present, and then determine the best treatment for her.
