Can I safely deworm my rescued stray cat without a vet visit?

Frend is so handsome, and he's so lucky that you have allowed yourselves to be adopted. Using a deworming treatment is an excellent idea, especially since he lives outdoors. I would recommend using Drontal or Panacur. You can get them from the vet (it would be a good idea to get him checked out by the vet, get him vaccines as well), and they are safe. Yes, you can as long as product and dosage are appropriate. The route of administration would depend on the treatment itself (some are tablets some other are spot on). As long as the product is on prescription and of good quality, there is no most effective way.

There are over the counter dewormers, but I recommend getting them seen. The over the counter medications don't always work. And it also depends on the parasite. If you feel the pets have a parasite, getting the checked with a fecal exam at your veterinarian and getting a trusted product would be best. Good luck.

Hello. Since you wormed her for the tapeworms, it is a good idea to also worm for roundworms & hookworms. You should be able to easily find this at PetSmart, just look for anything that indicates it has pyrantel pamoate in it & just follow the label directions. Milbemax, Revolution, Drontal, Strongid, Panacur, are some examples. I recommend calling your local vet to ask which products are most efficacious and available in your area, and you can get them from the store. For feral cats, the biggest problem is getting the medication into them, so you can talk with your vet about pills vs. liquids. If you are feeding them then a tablet in the food might work, but only if you are feeding them separately. Best of luck with the kitties!

Yes it ia sbsolutely ok to treat her for fleas. I would use a spot on such as Advantage or frotnline Plus or similar spot ons. and you can get some Pyrantel Pamoate from your veterinarian to worm her (it is a liquid, that does not taste terrible) or a Drontal for cats tablet.

Unfortunately those types of dewormers are all prescription only, and it depends how sick is your cat as well, if he is very ill i would recommend not giving him any dewormers unless you are 100% positive he has worms. the best dewormers on the market are Profender (spot on), Drontal and milbemax.
