Is it safe to combine dewormer and flea treatment for my outdoor cat?

Yes it ia sbsolutely ok to treat her for fleas. I would use a spot on such as Advantage or frotnline Plus or similar spot ons. and you can get some Pyrantel Pamoate from your veterinarian to worm her (it is a liquid, that does not taste terrible) or a Drontal for cats tablet.

Most OTC dewormers are safe to use as long as you follow package directions. Confirm the product can be used for cats first. Ideally, you should speak with your vet prior to administering any medication to a pet.

There is an over the counter dewormer for tapeworms called Bayer Tapeworm dewormer. It's also generally safe and has rare adverse reactions. Hello, you can use Advantage Multi for cats which is good for fleas, roundworms, hookworms, ear mites, and heartworm. In addition, you can use a seresto collar for cats which is good for cats and dogs. Before starting advantage multi, you should have him tested for heartworm. The rabies and his other yearly vaccines (FVRCP) should continued to be given yearly especially if he continues to be an indoor and outdoor cat. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Cats do not require heartworm test prior to these medications. Drontal is a good idea to use with these as it covers tapeworms and those products do not. I like advantage multi as I feel it protects against fleas better

Then I would use interceptor monthly for heartworm and intestinal parasites. Or you can use Advantage Multi and the Seresto collar for the ticks. But you are right there isn't a product that gets everything for dogs or cats. Have a great day!

Tapeworms are killed by a medication called praziquantel, which is prescription only. A dewormer containing that can only be gotten at the vet. A great deworming medication is Drontal which kills tapeworms, roundworms, whipworms, and hookworms. OTC dewormers will only kill roundworms, whipworms, and hookworms. Personally I always recommend a deworming medication from the vet, as they are stronger and better than anything you get OTC. Drontal is safe and healthy for kittens. Bambi should get a dewormer now, and another in two weeks. After that she will need to be dewormed monthly until she is six months of age, and then every three months thereafter. It's perfectly safe to give them a deworming medication even if they don't have worms, it prevents them from occurring. I never recommend getting OTC flea and tick medications. Many brands of them, such as Hartz, are terrible products that do not work and can have serious side effects in cats. I personally recommend getting a flea and tick medication from the vet such as Frontline, Advantage, or Revolution. When you make an appointment with the vet to get her vaccines, you can also get the deworming treatment as well as the flea and tick medication. I hope this helps!
