When should I expect my pregnant cat to gain weight and kittens move?

You might be able to feel this during very late term pregnancy, around day 55 or 60. But in many cases, you really can't feel much of anything from the outside - unborn kittens are very tiny and don't tend to move very vigorously, so if you can't feel anything, this doesn't necessarily mean that anything is wrong :)

She's due very soon, as cats gestation period is generally 58-64 days give or take. Their uterus is actually V-shaped, and each horn can lie along either side of her belly. Once she has weaned this litter of kittens, I strongly recommend getting her spayed to prevent further litters and a number of health problems that are more likely to occur if she is not spayed.

There isn't really a goal weight for cats. The amount they gain depends on their nutrition and how many kittens they are creating. The most worrisome thing in pregnant cats is gaining too much fat from eating too much food during pregnancy. Your vet can help you determine if this might be the case.

Not all kittens kick a lot and as long as your cat appears bright and alert and eats and drinks and has no discharge from her vulva, everything should be fine. A cat's pregnancy lasts 63 to 65 days on average, so at 49 days the kittens are still pretty small and cannot kick hard. Should your cat appear not healthy or stop eating have your vet give her a pregnancy check up.

While some people notice a change in the nipples when a cat is pregnant it is not a very accurate predictor. I think you should see a veterinarian to confirm the pregnancy and make sure the kittens are okay and not in distress. Occasionally cats will need help with labor either through medical management or a c-section and if she is 63 days today it would be a good idea to check for signs of fetal distress.

She does look quite full! She should be pregnant for 64 days and will start making milk after the kittens come. The only way to know for sure how many kittens are in there would be an x-ray at the vet. Good luck with the the babies!!

No...not at all. 6 week kitten fetuses are small and it would be difficult to feel a lot of activity through the abdominal wall at this stage.
