My cat is 6 weeks pregnant. Why no kitten movement or bumps?

Not all kittens kick a lot and as long as your cat appears bright and alert and eats and drinks and has no discharge from her vulva, everything should be fine. A cat's pregnancy lasts 63 to 65 days on average, so at 49 days the kittens are still pretty small and cannot kick hard. Should your cat appear not healthy or stop eating have your vet give her a pregnancy check up.

You might be able to feel this during very late term pregnancy, around day 55 or 60. But in many cases, you really can't feel much of anything from the outside - unborn kittens are very tiny and don't tend to move very vigorously, so if you can't feel anything, this doesn't necessarily mean that anything is wrong :)

Hello. It is very difficult to say if she is or is not pregnant from these pictures, because if she is only carrying 1 or 2 kittens, then she would not be as big as one carrying 4-6 kittens. And if she is truly 68 days into a pregnancy, she is overdue. If she does have kittens you should be able to rub on her abdomen & feel some substantial "bumps" at this point in time. She's due very soon, as cats gestation period is generally 58-64 days give or take. Their uterus is actually V-shaped, and each horn can lie along either side of her belly. Once she has weaned this litter of kittens, I strongly recommend getting her spayed to prevent further litters and a number of health problems that are more likely to occur if she is not spayed.

Generally a cat is not visibly pregnant until 5-6weeks and would have kittens within 3-4weeks. A vet should be able to feel kittens in the belly at this stage and if negative further investigation may be recommended especially if there is any changes in appetite or thirst or she is lethargic.

She should start gaining weight at around or about day 40 of pregnancy. Gestation time is 63-65 days on average. The kittens may or may not move, but you should feel them from about day 45 provided they do move.
