Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Maine Coon | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 9 months old | 16 lbs

I have a pregnant cat. She is due any day now. I just notice a reddish brown stringy discharge from her vulva area. Should I take her to the ER?

Hello, thank you for using PetCoach. If you see the discharge and no kittens have been produced within 2 hours then yes, you should take her to the ER.

Here is an information sheet on what to expect when a cat gives birth:

Hope this helps. Best wishes.
