My kitten has worms and diarrhea. What food is best for him?

Diarrhea can be observed with conditions such as colitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. It is possible Coco has intestinal parasites. You would need to submit a stool sample to your veterinarian for confirmation. A physical exam would be recommended to rule out other causes. If intestinal parasites are diagnosed, your veterinarian can dispense or administer the appropriate dewormer. It may need to be repeated in 2, 4 and 6 weeks. He should be eating a quality kitten food. Fish alone is not a balanced diet for a growing kitten. Discontinue the milk as well since it may cause stomach upset.

I would have Axl checked out by a vet first. Medical problems such as a GI illness and intestinal worms can cause the gas and funny stool. Should he have one of these problems, the vet can treat him for it. If a medical problem is ruled out, brands of kitten food I recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, and Iams. Since you have dewormed then you can try giving Milo a bland diet of boiled plain chicken, tuna, or ground turkey and white rice to ease the stomach. If you have no proof of vaccines it is best to do then to know he is protected. A rabies vaccine would be due along with a panleukopenia and respiratory virus combination (fvrcp). This one will need to be boostered 4 weeks after the first then you can go to every 3 years. You can change his diet to a sensitive stomach or even just boiled shredded chicken to help until you get him seen. You want to pick up a dewormer and probiotic at a pet store to also help

Please don't waste your money on those expensive grain free foods. They are not necessary to use except in extreme cases of an actual diagnosed grain allergy which is rare. Grain free diets are now linked to causing heart disease in dogs (we are not sure yet about cats). I recommend you discontinue use of that type of food. My suggestion would be to use a long term course of a probiotic called Fortiflora. Put one packet on his food every day for at least one month. This will help correct any imbalance in good vs bad intestinal bacteria. DO NOT use human probiotics or things like yogurt. Fortiflora is the best in my opinion and it is palatable so cats like to eat it. You should try a gastrointestinal prescription food such as GI royal canin for example, alternatively you can feed her boiled chicken and rice for 3-4 days, once the diarrhea gets better you can gradually put her back on her normal food.
