My 4-month-old kitten throws up undigested food on Science Diet. Why?

Vomiting in cats is a nonspecific sign and can indicate a number or things including inflammatory bowel disease, kidney problems, thyroid issues, dietary sensitivity, or an intestinal obstruction. If Lucy is otherwise acting normally you could try a diet like Hill's Science Diet for sensitive stomach to see if this helps. However, if Lucy is having other issues, if she is vomiting frequently, or she continues to vomit despite the diet change then she should be examined by a veterinarian. I am very sorry how long it has taken an expert to get back to you. I also am very sorry to hear that Sassy is experiencing these problems, I am sure it is very unsettling for you both. There are a number of potential causes of such clinical signs, including dietary indiscretion, pancreatitis, parasite infestation, infection, and ingestion of a toxin or poison. Because you have only noticed these signs over the course of two days I would continue to monitor Sassy at home. Rest Sassy's gastrointestinal tract by holding back food for 6 hours. Then you can continue with a bland and easily digested food of the boiled chicken breast and provide plenty of fresh water. If Sassy does not improve, has profuse vomiting or diarrhoea, you notice fresh blood, Sassy seems lethargic, in pain or depressed I would advise a trip to the veterinarian. Hello, sorry to hear about Silk. It is not normal for a kitten to be vomiting frequently. However, some kittens may vomit if they eat too much or too fast, although still, this should not be frequently. If Silk is vomiting often, I would worry that he may have some kind of infections such as a parasite or an abnormality in his GI tract. Other things such as an allergy to his dry food may also be considered. The best option would be to have Silk evaluated by a veterinarian to ensure he does not have an infectious or congenital disease that needs to be addressed with something else besides a diet change. Your simplest solution would be only feed him wet food. However, you can try a different kind of dry food which doesn't contain the same ingredients as the one you're currently feeding. Again, this would neglect any condition which may require more aggressive medical therapy. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Poor thing! I would continue with the baby food but start mixing some mild canned cat food in. Start with a very small amount and work your way to a predominate cat food mixture. I would also make sure she is dewormed at least twice as many young kittens have GI parasites that can make them vomit (in severe cases)

I am sorry to hear that Scooter isn’t feeling well. When young cats vomit I do get concerned about the possibility of an intestinal foreign body. If he isn’t feeling well then I would encourage you to have him evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible. An x-ray will likely be recommended to look for any signs of an obstruction. Colby could be eating too quickly and vomiting secondary to that. Since you have changed his food already, I would try offering him a smaller amount and see if he can hold that down, then give him the rest.

Try feeding smaller, more frequent meals. If Smokey eats fast, try a 'slow feed' bowl to address the issue. Sometimes, switching to a canned food may help. If the vomiting persists or worsens, have him examined by your veterinarian.
