My new rescue kitten is throwing up and not eating or drinking.

If the energy level is normal for this kitten and he is acting otherwise fine, I would continue to monitor and maybe syringe feed some water if he is not drinking enough to help prevent dehydration. If he is lethargic and continues to vomit, then I would take him in to be looked at by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. It sounds as Oliver is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

If he continues to vomit I recommend having a Veterinarian examine him. You can also call and see what food he was eating at Petco. Causes of vomiting: food allergy or intolerance, vaccine reaction, intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections or a foreign body (ate something that is stuck). Moving into a new home is stressful, but it shouldn't cause Thor to have vomiting and diarrhea as well as not eat. That tells me he is sick. If you are feeding him a different diet than what he got previously, that could be the cause of his illness. Try to tempt him to eat with some boiled white meat chicken (no bones), but if he won't eat this or the other symptoms continue, take him into the vet first thing in the morning. Best of luck.

If he is not eating and drinking properly, this can be a sign of illness. It is worrisome that he is inactive as well. Kittens should be very playful. Also bring in his litter box close to the area. Giver him a few days to get use to things. Consider having Cinder examined by your veterinarian to diagnose medical causes for the vomiting. Vomiting is a very non specific symptom having multiple causes. It may also be due to the stress of a new environment. Pheromone products such as Feliway spray or plug in diffuser may decrease any anxiety. You can feed smaller amounts of food more frequently to see if that helps decrease vomiting episodes. A 24 hour fast followed by a bland diet in small, frequent amounts may also be used to manage symptoms. Your veterinarian can dispense anti-emetics if indicated.
