New cat vomiting, hiding, and not eating well after moving?

Moving into a new home is stressful for a cat, especially if there is a resident cat who doesn't like him. Given the move and the presence of the new cat, I would be inclined to think Simba is throwing up from stress. If he's never had Frisky's wet food before, then that could also be a cause of the vomiting. You can try a bland diet to see if that helps with the vomiting before having to see a vet. I recommend withholding food for 12-24 hours, then feeding a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. Given that there is another cat in the house, I would slowly introduce them to each other. Take Simba, and put him in his own room with his own food, water, and litter box. Keep the door closed, and for a few days, feed them both treats on other side of door so they associate each other's smell with a good experience. Then let the other cat in Simba's room while he is in a cat carrier. They can smell each other, but not be in contact. If either becomes upset or show signs of aggression, remove the second cat from the room, and try again later. Praise them when they interact appropriately. When they are interacting well with each other through the carrier, you can let Simba out of his room, and see how he interacts with the other cat. I would get a cat tree with lots of shelves to give the cats vertical space to get away from each other. I would keep Simba in his room when you go out until they are comfortable with each other.

Congrats on your new kitty. She does sounds a bit stressed, and moving into a new home is stressful. It's good that she is eating the food Pea got at the shelter, and the vomiting could have been caused by a change in diet if you were feeding her something different before. If she's not eating a lot, then she won't be pooping a lot. Reading your post, there aren't any huge concerns, so I'd just keep an eye on her for now. Eventually have her seen by a vet for a health check, even if everything is ok. I hope this helps!

Poor kitty! If she is vomiting and not eating or drinking, this is a serious problem - even if the problem began because of stress, she will quickly become dehydrated if this continues. I would recommend having her examined by a vet as soon as you can - he/she can do blood work and x-rays if needed to find out what's wrong and get her started on IV fluids and other supportive care if needed.

The possible causes of for vomiting are numerous. The fact that you recently moved (be in a month ago at this point) could play a role potentially as stress is a definite cause of GI upset in cats. Other causes can be dietary, gastroenteritis, pancreatitis, kidney / liver disease, allergies, foreign objects, and even cancer in some rarer cases in a young cat. Since there have only been episodes of vomiting total at this point, I wouldn't be particularly concerned as of yet. If you see this happening another couple of times over the next week, I think it is something worth investigating more. Hope this helps!

If the energy level is normal for this kitten and he is acting otherwise fine, I would continue to monitor and maybe syringe feed some water if he is not drinking enough to help prevent dehydration. I'm sorry to hear that Mazy isn't feeling well! With her sneezing and watery eyes, it's most likely that Mazy is experiencing an upper respiratory infection (URI). These infections are most commonly caused by herpesvirus or calicivirus, and these viruses tend to shed and cause problems during times of stress, such as surgery and/or moving to a new home. (Don't worry - these viruses are not contagious to people!) While the viruses just need time to run their course, some cats can develop secondary bacterial infections as well. It would be best to take her to the vet for an exam. Did you change her food when you brought her home last week? Sudden diet changes can cause some stomach upset for many animals, which can lead to some vomiting. Other causes of vomiting can include parasites, gastroenteritis from eating something unusual, pancreatitis, among many other issues. You can try to offer her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken for a few days before gradually mixing in her regular food over another 5-7 days. If he continues to vomit I recommend having a Veterinarian examine him. You can also call and see what food he was eating at Petco. Causes of vomiting: food allergy or intolerance, vaccine reaction, intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections or a foreign body (ate something that is stuck).
