My kitten has third eyelid, vomiting, loose stool. Should I see a vet?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 10 days old

My kitten is 2 months old and as of yesterday afternoon her nictitating membrane is showing quite a bit. She has some eye crust but it's not green and it's very little, she did throw up this morning and have loose stool as well. She isn't dehydrated and is still very playful, she doesn't seem too interested in eating though, but she's still eating a little bit. I'm wondering if this is something serious and should get her to a vet ASAP or something that will go away.

Little Maggie may be in the beginning stages of an infection. These are generally viral but sometimes bacteria can play a role. Its not an emergency but if she continues to have the eye issues or the lose stool for more than 24 hours, I would take her in for an exam and possible medications. A bland diet of boiled chicken and white rice may help with the soft stool. Make sure Rosie continues to drink well as these young ones can dehydrate quickly. Best of luck!
