My kitten has green eye boogers, vomit, and diarrhea. What's wrong?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Nami! At 6 weeks old Nami should be on 100% kitten food. She no longer needs formula. It could be her diet or the formula causing the diarrhea. Other causes of diarrhea in a kitten are: intestinal parasites and viral or bacterial infections. The blood indicates inflammation in the colon and the blood tends to show up with severe diarrhea or diarrhea occurring for several days. If Nami is eating and no longer vomiting I would eliminate the formula and the food you think upset her stomach. If the diarrhea isn't better in 2 days then bring a stool sample and have her seen by a Vet. If she won't eat or vomits again she needs to be seen. I wish Nami the best!

These signs could be compatible with a colitis, which is an inflammation of the last part of the colon, usually related to dietary indiscretion. As a first approach, I would suggest to start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration, corneal ulcer, conjunctivitis, dry eye (also known as KCS), among many other conditions. Diarrhea could be due to something like parasites for instance which is treated with medications or it may be transient. I highly recommend that you have Tequila evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Further therapy would be based on the findings. Good luck and best wishes!

Jack's eyes and stool most likely are not related although can be. He may have an upper respiratory infection, conjunctivitis (inflammation in the conjunctiva of the eyes which may be infection vs allergic), Jack can have a corneal ulcer (less likely if it is both eyes that are affected) or even allergies (which are less likely due to age). With all of his symptoms, including a runny nose and sneezing it seems more like an upper respiratory infection. It is a good sign that he is still full of energy. With his stool, it can be stress or intestinal parasites. It can also be that he got into something he wasn't supposed to or even a virus. When you go to the veterinarian I would recommend bringing a stool sample so the veterinarian can make sure there are no intestinal parasites. They may dispense eye medication and medication to help with the diarrhea. Depending on the cause they find it just may be antibiotics for the diarrhea or it may be a dewormer. Have you changed any of her food ? If so, it could just be the diet change as her tummy is still quite delicate and immature and it can take time and a few tummy upsets to get used to all the food ingredients. If no food has been changed, then I wonder if Pompom has been treated for worms. All kittens need to be treated for worms regularly, using a safe product dosed for her weight. You will have to take her to see a vet to get the right product for her. With regards to her food, just remember to change her diet gradually.

Goldie could be vomiting and have watery stool due to many reasons including a sudden change in diet, an infection or parasites. You may try feeding her a bland diet if she will eat it. A bland diet can consist of 25% boiled white meat chicken and 75% boiled white rice. This should all be plain. If she will not eat it, continue feeding her the kitten food. Offer her both canned and dried. At her age, she does not need milk of any form. If she is still sick tomorrow, have her examined and treated by the veterinarian. Since Nala is continuing to have diarrhea with blood, I would be concerned. I would recommend bringing her in to see your vet so a fecal analysis can be performed. Coccidia can often be seen on a fecal exam. There is always a possibility that this could be what is causing the problem, as well as other intestinal parasites. if she does have coccidia, she will need a different medication in the typical dewormer.
