My 2-month-old kitten isn't eating. When should I worry?

My cat is not eating anything...2 month old.plz any suggestions...

Unfortunately there are many things that could be making Misti not eat. Just like humans, pets can pick up viruses, infections in the intestines, or something they shouldn’t have. Parasites, toxin ingestion or even an obstruction are all possible. Any pet who does not eat for 24 hours needs to be examined by the veterinarian. A physical exam and thorough medical history are the only way to begin to figure out what is wrong. Have her examined by the veterinarian today. Best of luck.

Poor girl. Not eating can be caused by a lot of different things such as infection or underlying organ malfunction. If Lala isn't eating for more than /4 hrs then it is best to take her in to your vet for diagnostic testing to determine the underlying cause so that we know how best to help her. You can try to offer her a different type of food or canned food to see if you can entice her to eat. However, when a cat refuses to eat and also is acting lethargic or abnormal, it is best to get them seen and treated right away. I hope that Lala feels better soon. Best wishes and take care.

In kittens we would be concerned with respiratory infections, GI infections with parasites, or viral infections. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and others depending on the findings on exam. It could be many things, bad-tasting food, oral pain, nausea, etc. Since 12 hours is a long time for a kitten to not eat and they can become hypoglycemic, I would recommend having him examined by a vet to see what is going on.

Ginger needs to be examined by the veterinarian. Any pet that does not eat for 48 hours needs to be checked. It's possible she is sick or has gotten into something and it's best to play it safe. The doctor will likely want to check some bloodwork to make sure there's no evidence Ginger picked up an Advil or something else of that nature. I hope this helps.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Sibby! She is very cute! Fleas usually do not make kittens not eat and vomit. I wouldn't put any flea medication on her until she sees your Vet. Since she is so young and is a cat we do not like them to not eat for more than 2-3 days. It is time to have her seen. Causes of not eating and vomiting in kittens are: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, feline leukemia or FIV, feline infectious peritonitis, ate something gross, ate something causing a blockage, food allergy or intolerance. I would bring a stool sample with you to the appointment. I wish Sibby a speedy recovery!

If she is extremely lethargic then I would take her today, otherwise tomorrow at your Vet at the latest. My 1-month-old kitten is weak and not eating. What should I do?

Your kitten needs to be seen by a vet immediately. Cats cannot go without eating for more than a few days without suffering liver damage. Your kitten is likely very dehydrated and weak and will need supportive care to help him survive. Right now, make sure he stays warm and mix some honey or corn syrup with warm water and very carefully use a syringe or dropper to get him to swallow some of this to help rehydrate him and give him some calories. Be very careful because it is easy to choke him when he is this weak.
