My kitten isn't eating 1/2 cup of Purina dry food daily. Is she okay?

I can understand your dilemma here. You can try offering her 1/4 cup 3 times a day and see if his curbs her hunger. The food recommendations on the bag are more like guidelines. I would also recommend weaning her off the milk over the next week, because she is old enough where she doesn’t need it after 6 weeks of age. Some cats prefer one type of food over another. I would just leave dry food out for him to nibble on and then feed him small amounts of canned food twice a day. He has plenty of teeth that he should be able to chew small kibble. He will begin to eat more dry as he continues to get older and gets hungrier. I hope this helps!

A bowl that can hold about a cup of water is perfect. For food, offer her a small amount of canned or dry kitten food 3 to 4 times a day. The amount depends on the type of food, and instructions for amount should be on the bag. If the bag says to feed 1/2 cup, and you're feeding 4 times a day, she'll need 1/8 cup at each meal.

If she is lean, you can feed up to 3/4 cup per day. I would sprinkle small amounts of this pre-measured amount into her dish throughout the day to encourage her graze and not finish it all at once. You can also take kibble from this pre-measured amount and hide pieces around the house. This encourages a cat's normal hunting behavior. If you place kibble on high surfaces she will have to jump. Hello. That actually does not sound too unusual. You can certainly offer her the canned twice daily ( my house kitty gets a spoonful morning & evening ), & then he is free to pick at the dry all day. MOST cats are good at self regulating & will not eat too much to become obese, but this is something to watch for as Aspen grows older.
