My 3-week-old kitten's nail fell off. Should I worry about the scab?

If the lesions get bigger or spread to the other two paws, then he will need to see his veterinarian. If he is limping now, I would have him seen tomorrow. Otherwise, you can bring it up at his next vaccine appointment. He may have a scab from a previous wound. In the meantime, make sure that he is not licking or biting at the paws. As long as the skin is healed and dry you should just monitor for any discharge/bleeding etc which would indicate infection. It is likley that complications will develop as he starts walkingand putting wieghton the stump and the bones of the leg may break through the skin covering - in such cases amputation is recommended to shorten the stump and prevent open sores and infection once e is more mobile and strong enough for anesthetic

I would have Nubs (love his name!) seen by a vet. Be sure to bring along his litter mates and mother as well. If the stub of the leg is scabbed and may have dried blood on it, it could have been injured and it's worth having it looked at and cleaned by the vet.

I would not be overly concerned about such a small wound but continue to monitor closely for any signs of infection. Such a narrow shred is unlikely to have any long term consequences and it is quite likely to fall off by itself or during grooming

I would get this seen by your vet to be on the safe side. It may be a healing scab but it looks a little suspicious of ringworm, and that can be easily spread to other pets and people in your household. Another possibility is an allergy to plastic if they have plastic bowls for food or water, but those lesions tend to be located on the chin and lips, not to one side. Your vet will do an exam, probably pluck some hairs from that spot for a fungal culture and may examine some of the cells under a microscope to see if they can identify the cause. Based n these results they should be better able to tell you why this happened and how best to treat it.

As long he's not lame and his nails aren't bleeding, and the scratch is healing, it should be fine, as long as he is acting normally, eating and drinking and doing all his usual things. If he becomes lethargic, loses his appetite, or has any abnormal behaviors, it would be a good idea to get him seen by your vet.
