My kitten has a pink scab, hair loss under jaw. What's wrong?

This can be a scab from scratching due to allergies or an injury or it can be ring worm. I would keep it clean with soap and water and wash your hands well after contact as ring worm can be contagious to people. I would have your vet check the area to see which is the cause as they have different treatments.

This is most likely due to some type of allergy. Due to its location it is most likely fleas but could also be due to something else in the environment. I would make sure she is on a high quality flea preventative like comfortis, cheristan, or advantage. Also, if you see any fleas on her I would also treat your house and yard for fleas. Fleas do not live on the pet but in the environment. If you do not see any fleas and the spots are not improving, I would recommend to have your vet take a look at them. There is a good chance that the spot have become infected and she may need some antibiotics and stronger allergy meds like steroids to help them heal. I hope this helps!

This presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection can eventually be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any scratching. It sounds like Ramona somehow injured herself, most likely a puncture wound, and it stabbed over to try and heal itself. The purplish, black is most likely dried up blood. As long as it isn't bleeding or bothering Ramona, and has no signs of infection (yellow/green discharge, foul odor), then i would let it heal on its own. An occasional cleanse with BetDine diluted 50:50 with warm water and a topical very thin layer of Neosprin (don't allow licking for at least 20 mins after application if you can help it) can aid in healing. However if it looks infected or like a deep wound that won't heal well (within 4-7 days), then its best to have your vet look at it and get it treated (i.e. Antibiotics, wound management).

Unfortunately without seeing it, I can't say for certain what is is and what caused it. It will take more than three days for this to heal, and it's fine the scab has been there for three days. Don't touch his ear since he doesn't seem to like it. Continue to monitor the scab. If it hasn't gone away in another week, it gets bigger, or it appears infected (red, swollen, warm to the touch, pus), then I would take him into the vet. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

Ringworm typically presents as lesions on the head and face. This area looks more indicative of a flea allergy or stress related licking. Cats with fleas will often develop an allergy where they start to lick and chew at the area on their lower back. This condition usually requires the cat be treated for the fleas and medication to reduce the itchiness. This could also be compulsive licking or another type of skin infection/allergy. I recommend having her seen by a veterinarian when possible for an exam and treatment. You may want to put a cone on her if she is licking the area to prevent her from further irritating it.

These areas on the skin look very suspicious of a ringworm infection or bacterial infection. Ms Pussington needs to be seen by a vet to get this looked at and treated. This won't respond to any at home treatment unfortunately. I would recommend scheduling an appt soon for her. In the meantime you can try cleaning the area with Betadine diluted 50:50 with warm water to provide a topical antiseptic clean. Nothing else should be placed on these wounds. She will likely need a skin scrape/cytology to identify the underlying pathogen and then treatment based on what the cause is. I hope she feels better soon.
