Should I worry about a fiber sticking out of my cat's paw wound?

ALthough stitching is the fastest way to heal wounds (5-7days) as it helps sealing of the edges together in the correct alignment, most small flesh wounds such as this will heal over 3-4weeks if kept clean and infection is avoided. You must monitor closely for any heat, swelling or pain which may indicate infection requiring further treatment

Yes the wound looks quite healthy and this is likely to be granulated tissue. Unfortunately this is a pressure point so the healing is definitively slower. Antibiotics are needed to prevent any infection.

Poor Rain! That's a very tough spot for the body to heal itself because it doesn't have great blood supply and it's easy for pets to get to and lick, which is really bad for healing. It's a little hard to see how moist or dry the wound is from the pictures. It looks like it was very wet last night, and is a bit drier today. It actually looks pretty good to me, especially if this only happened a few days ago. So, I would be comfortable waiting until tomorrow, UNLESS you're seeing increased discharge or if Rain is lethargic/not eating/seems very painful. I'd recommend she have a soft sided cone on if possible to try to prevent licking, along with close supervision because cats are great at getting around the cones - pet stores often sell these. A hard sided one might work better, but could also be used to rub against the wound, so I would definitely use that if your vet gave you one or recommends it, but wouldn't advise it without seeing her in person to see how she's moving around and how comfortable she is. If the area is painful I would recommend taking him to the vet to assess underlying injuries and possible infection within the wound but if the claw is loose and stuck in the fur it may be possible to pick out without trouble. Wounds from cat bites and scratches tend to become infected so I would recommend a vet check with your regular vet tomorrow, especially if any signs of fever are present (lethargy, reduced appetite or thirst, pain, increased breathing rate).

I would not be overly concerned with no pain or change in appetite etc but monitor closely for any additional signs or symptoms which may indicate infection in the wound. Monitor also for any changes in the other nails which would raise queries about possible medical causes for nail loss

It appears that the wound is healing properly. I think it unlikely that she will die from this superficial wound. Continue to clean it daily with warm water, and prevent licking since this will delay healing. You can use a topical ointment like Neosporin. If the area around the wound suddenly gets red, swollen, or it oozes a creamy discharge, then Tiger may need evaluation by a vet and a round of oral antibiotics.

As long as the skin is healed and dry you should just monitor for any discharge/bleeding etc which would indicate infection. It is likley that complications will develop as he starts walkingand putting wieghton the stump and the bones of the leg may break through the skin covering - in such cases amputation is recommended to shorten the stump and prevent open sores and infection once e is more mobile and strong enough for anesthetic
