My 3-week-old orphan kitten is limping and shaky. Is his leg broken?

I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian so that this can be further assessed which will likely include radiographs. Unfortunately, I can't really tell what the abnormality is by looking at these pictures. Kulit needs to see a vet, as shivering is a sign of pain. She may have sustained a fracture (break) or other trauma to the leg. Please have her seen immediately.

I am sorry to hear Boronito has a hurt paw. There may be many causes for this including a puncture wound to the paw, some foreign material stuck between his paws, or a fracture to the limb. If he is shaking, he is probably in a lot of pain and discomfort from the injury. He will need an x-ray of the limb and an exam of the paw to determine what the cause may be. He may also need to be on pain medications or other medications as needed as well. Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done from home except for trying to immobilizing the limb. There are no safe pain medications to give cats over the counter. I have included an article below about ways to make veterinary visits less expensive. It could be soft tissue damage from an injury causing limping but it could also be a result of an orthopedic issue. Kittens can also get viral infections like calicivirus that can cause limping. I'd recommend keeping Binks quiet by confining her to a small area and not allowing her to run, jump, or use stairs. If she continues to limp or any other abnormal signs develop she should be examined by a veterinarian as she may need X-rays or pain medication. Thank you for submitting your question regarding your kitten. I recommend that he sees a veterinarian today. His behavior is worrisome. Even if you are not able to locate his pain, it sounds like he is sore if he is limping. There is a viral disease in kittens that can cause a fever, lameness and ulcers in the mouth. His veterinarian will examine him and determine if this is the case or if he has another problem. I hope this information helps!

Poor Tom! Without seeing him I cannot say for sure what he has injured. He could have simply sprained a muscle or broke a toenail. Unfortunately, he could have also broken a bone. I would strongly recommend to have your vet take a look at him. Your vet will be able to localize the pain and take x-rays if needed. They will be able to get him started on pain meds and the proper treatment plan to help him feel better. I hope this helps!

Often young kittens recover well from injuries given enough time. I would let him do what he wants as long as he’s getting around now. I expect him to improve and not become worse or paralyzed. He may never be perfect but if he’s able to walk and run an isn’t painful then he can live a normal life. Having an exam would be good when you can.
